Ya know…. when most people look at the way we talk in everyday life, you would think we are all a bunch of rubes. (that’s an “easy mark” for those of you that don’t speak carnnie
)I mean, some of our biggest clichés show how we think. Below are a couple of the more well known ones. Read those and I will be right back to tell you why these clichés make your marketing much much easier.
- Don’t count your eggs before they’re hatched
- Opened another can of worms
- Making a bad decision is better then making no decision at all
- Crying in the wilderness
- The wheel is turning but the hamster is dead
How would these clichés make my marketing life easier?
I know what your thinking now… this guy is nuts! Off his rocker! 3 sheets to the wind, 52 cards short of a deck…ect. NOPE! I just understand that people talk how they think, and to really understand your customer you need to listen to the clichés they use on a regular basis. Once you know how they think, than you can get your marketing in gear to work with that knowledge.
“I’m busier than a long tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs!”
Great! If you are busy these days, you are probably looking to get busier and grow your business. If not, you are looking to get ANY business, increase market share, or just plain get more clients in the door. No matter what your goal is with a new or revamped marketing strategy, you will need to have some ideas either given to you, or refined by someone that knows what they are doing. Over the next few months we will be doing a series of articles on marketing in today’s market, and related subjects. Please stop by often to see the next in the series, or subscribe to our RSS.
Cya soon.
